What right have I to be upset
When bluffs are called yet tales are spun,
When both choices lead to regret,
When we're both hurt before we're done?
If only I could tell myself
That I am spotless, not to blame.
But I've been down that road before -
It's an abyss, a burning flame.
And it will consume my soul -
Or as much of it as still is mine -
A fire that burns but leaves you cold,
A fall you call a friend in time.
I have no right to be upset,
I shouldn't jump with my wings bound.
The course of such a dream is set:
I think I fly - then hit the ground. |
